Automated Recycling to Launch in 2013

Arlington City Council Member Robert Rivera

Republic Services will begin delivery of wheeled 65 gallon recycling carts to residents in June of 2013, as the City of Arlington converts to an automated recycling program. The plan was approved at the August 7th city council meeting. Based on survey results from residents who participated in the pilot program, the city council voted 6 to 3 to approve the program.

Residents will each receive one 65-gallon cart with wheels and a lid, to increase recycling capacity. The switch from bins to carts will also allow for easier maneuverability and decreased litter on windy days.

Have you received an offer from XTO Energy?

How about it? Have you? What did you decide, or have you decided yet? This is the first I've heard of XTO coming back after the last time they decided to rescind their earlier offer, only this time there is apparently no neighborhood representation to get the best deal - or is there?

TEXAS STADIUM GOES DOWN

This isn't neighborhood news, but it is local, and pretty much affects all of us...

Around 7:00 AM today, Texas Stadium was brought down in a series of explosions that collapsed almost the entire stadium. Watching the video it suddenly struck me as rather sad, a big piece of football history now permanently gone...

Watch the video.

WHAT'S GOING ON OVER THERE?

Here is what your neighbors on the north side of Winter Park Lane are experiencing right now, thanks to DFW Midstream who is using 'eminent domain' to get access to the owner's property. What part of "public use" is this for? Looks like it will benefit a big gas company to me... What do you think? Are you being affected too? Head over to the blog and sound off!
