BOWIE BAND PLACES THIRD IN UTA MARCHING CONTEST!

Saturday October 2, 2004 - Bowie High Shool's "Spirit of the Volunteers" award-winning marching band participated in the UTA Marching contest held at the UTA Mavericks Stadium. Competing against all other area marching bands (27 total), Bowie secured overall third place in the finals contest.

Bowie percussion also took third place, as did the Bowie color guard. In the Music category, Bowie was ranked overall 2nd place.

Bowie Band Booters president Jodi Peoples had this to say to the band and the parents:

"To all of our wonderfully supportive and dedicated parents THANK YOU for all of your hard work in moving the pit equipment to and fro, feeding the band and all of the other things that seemed to keep us busy the whole entire day. If it weren't for the booster parents EVERYTHING would be impossible. We are growing in our colorguard props and pit equipment and that's a good thing but it takes lots of parents to keep up. Thank you for dedicating those late Fridays and long and many Saturdays (and ending up with aching bodies the next day) to get this band where they are. Your time and efforts are appreciated by your own children and even those that aren't yours. If you haven't found your place in the boosters don't wait for an invitation, just come on down at any half time on Friday and we will put you at a cooler or handing out plumes or helping with the pit group. We can ALWAYS use fresh new faces. We LOVE our band parents."

"WAY TO GO BAND!!!! We are very proud of you. Keep up the hard work since we aren't through yet. We have many contests yet and are looking forward to seeing you get better and better from your hard work. Good Job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
